That snail chapter was weird! I will not look at snails the same again...

Oh no! It is the spiral!
  5. 09th we are talking mistwraith but could do the 08th (although that would be two days in a row!)
  6. So, with the first five chapters done and six to ten ahead, what are some things people have been enjoying? Any questions that I can possibly answer or shed light on?
  7. It seems like 99% of politics is theater and amounts to nothing really happening
  8. “Some are born to sweet delight, Some are born to endless night.” ― Agatha Christie, Endless Night
  9. The UK government recently banned TikTok on all government issued phones, but people can still do what they like on personal devices. I think that's fair. If it's a perceived security threat, keep it away from sensitive areas, but the public should be able to exercise their free choice. I can see major companies following suit. I wonder if the the US senator talk is just political theatre. They're never going to be able to legally ban TikTok's use by the American public, but all this posturing makes them look tough on China and gives a them a bit of time in the spotlight. It's probably also a negotiating tool with TIkTok. The article states: "TikTok said content creators will come to Washington next week to make the case why the app should not be banned." I really hope the creators are going to do this in the style of their videos. Imagine the look on the senators' faces if each creator just does a 30 second dance, mime or skit and then leaves.
  10. This morning I was talking to someone at work about all that’s going on (new hires, interviews, disciplinary stuff) and was bemoaning how long of a week it’s been. He looked at me with a puzzled look and said “but it’s only Tuesday morning…”
  11. Monday was a mofo so catching up with a couple of memes on Tuesday
  12. I agree TikTok is highly invasive and I question the judgment of anyone who knows what the app does when you install it and still choose to use it. That being said, I agree if the government bans the app for the public it’s an overreach and sets a dangerous precedent

I plan to reread some of these, maybe one a day. I feel like I missed details the first time

Let us know when you want to do Swamp Thing! We can choose the edition soon so we can grab it and give everyone time to find it. I’m not too familiar with those
  15. And everything else everyone said. Stories are what make us human. No other animal tells stories. They are the very foundation of civilisation. It's how we connect, teach, play, escape, trade (even economy; the very concept of currency is a story). We learn and live through stories. Everything needs a narrative because it's through narrative that we forge meaning.

Funny you should mention snails… 🌀
  17. TikTok is evil and highly addictive. I refuse to have the app on my phone or to view any videos directly on TikTok. I agree with Steve, if it gets banned outright, people will riot. Biden could ban TikTok from federally issued equipment to employees. I think that would be reasonable. But to ban it for public use might be overstepping government powers.
  18. Stories convey morals and can be a reflection of society's expectations and standards. Stories are a way to bring people together.

I started the book. I've been a snail at reading it. Hope to get caught up at Steve's reading sprint.
