Love this. I've written very little over the last six or seven months which is quite odd for me, so when I came across this thread in January I thought I'd throw my name in the hat to hopefully get me going again. Unfortunately it hasn't done what I hoped it would. I've written little more than what I've post here. I don't mind the low scoring. What I have put forward so far aren't my strongest stories and I've caught typos and mistakes after having posted. Though I feel I am better for having these tales than for not having taken part. I'll keep on going and see where it takes me. Anyhow, hope everyone is well, looking forward to coming tales.

Despite drifting on an island of one, points wise, away from the mainland that is the rest of you, I will persevere. 🙂 My effort for May is done.

Like last month, I may just post here the music video I am using to help influence this months story. The music and video have both an African and Asian feel to it for me and it also has a feel of a time from long ago, in places where you are more likely to come across animal life than human life -- a place where warriors may travel, sword wielding warriors. I hope some of you find this helpful, or at least somewhat interesting. If you think this music is somewhat familiar than you may be aware of the version Irish singer Enya recorded for The Lord of the Rings movies which indeed had many swords used throughout.

Love this prompt. This might go big. What's the word count limit we have to mess with?

Someone has been reading some H. P. Lovecraft. I'm enjoying all of what I'm reading.

Just posted for April. I see we are all leaving it quite late.

I have been reading some of these, with the likes of Phillip K. Dick's Time out of Joint. (Invasion of) The Body Snatchers - Jack Finney, The Left Hand of Darkness -Ursula K. Le Guin and Rendezvous With Rama and I want more so something like this give me reason to get stuck right in.

What are you guys on? Doubting the content of anything you all might put out, that's crazy talk. It is I and I alone who is allowed that luxury, being rock bottom in allocated points for our efforts. My points are so low, my stories are basically six feet under long before they see light of day, in effect dooming anything I think of before I even write a word, ensuring that they never see the light. What I am writing for this months prompt is something spinning off from another project I am writing, so my main problem is if I can contain it as a short story. Can I bring it to a logical and satisfying, at least to me, conclusion without getting overly long? I'm not sure at the moment if I can. I'll plod on through and hopefully get it done in time.

In preparation of attacking this months prompt, I came across a tune which sets a mood to wallow in while getting a tale together. It's a song called The Darkest Night by a lady named Laura Brehm. I found it while looking for inspiration and I love it. I've played it many times now to the point I wanted to find out more about the singer. I checked out her 2021 album and just had to purchase it. I like it that Darn much. Anyhow, I just wanted to share the initial tune. Perhaps it might influence more than one of the stories for April. :-
