Steve 6,583 Posted November 18, 2022 What are your plans this weekend? I'm actually off on Friday, but the weather sucks (high winds) so a ride might not be in my future. On Friday I have the Thousandfold Thought podcast with @drpuffnstuff and @Katerina then after Friday Conversation episode 50 with too many people to list 😎 On Saturday talking The Wrathbringer with @Christopher G. Brenning and the group On Sunday talking Wall of Storms with Ken Liu and the group About 25% left in Wall of Storms, then starting Sons of Darkness for next weeks meetup. What do you have planned? 1 Drew reacted to this Quote Steve IRL ► Personal Links: YouTube (booktube) ● OTBSteve YouTube (MTB and cycling) ● Strava ● Last.fm ● GoodReads ● Vero ◄
Amazing Worlds 246 Posted November 18, 2022 I had a chat with my wife. Turns out she doesn’t think I’m a beta male, more of a gamma male, really. So on that basis, start Friday by taking one kid swimming and the other to a birthday party while my wife goes out drinking with her mates. Saturday take my oldest to an athletics competition, then my wife shopping to the British supermarket down the highway, because as she keeps telling me: “happy wife, happy life”. Sunday will be taken up by lunch with friends, these things end up merging into dinner, Spanish style. Somewhere there, squeeze some reading, some video editing, an interval training session, a long run, and helping the kids with the school work. 2 Steve and Drew reacted to this
Jolien Reads 754 Posted November 18, 2022 I normally had Friday off since it's a holiday but ofcourse I was not granted this small bit of happiness by my boss so I'm currently at work. Not too bad but is does mess up my schedule quite a bit since I was going to film today (and Wednesday, when I normally work from home but ALSO needed to come into work). Means this will be a busy weekend This evening I have Friday conversation episode 50 (!!!) a birthday party from a friend of mine, Saturday will be used for filming, walking with the dogs, and a game night with friends. I'll probably reread Wall of Storms before the discussion on Sunday and since that was such a great book it's something I'm rather excited for. 1 Drew reacted to this
Drew 658 Posted November 18, 2022 I have all next week off of work, but the majority of next week we will have a full house with some of my girlfriends family staying with us Wednesday-Sunday. So this weekend we will be cleaning and getting ready for company. Finish Wall of Storms and watch the live show on Sunday. Get a workout or two in. Stay warm and probably will have to shovel snow in the driveway
HansLibraryCorner 163 Posted November 18, 2022 Sounds like you all have a fun weekend ahead, plenty of fun stuff to do! @Amazing WorldsI hope you and your wife have a good relationship! (As in, hope it's all in a good laughter hahahah) And plenty of fun everyone ❤️ The night Pokémon game is releasing today, so gonna play that all night (I'm so hyped omgosh) and do some reading for the wall of stormsd and then maybe join ep 50 of the Friday talks! Tomorrow I don't have much planned so gonna finish wall of storms and play more Pokémon probably 😄 And then later gonna see some friends to organise our friend-day winter edition 2022 And on Sunday nothing much except for the Chat with Ken Liu, so gonna be more pokémon and maybe agraphic novel of some kind! 1 Drew reacted to this

A_FROG_IN_TIME 442 Posted November 18, 2022 Well, after a really long and tough week, I figured I would reward myself with re-arranging the lounge so we can use the log burner, doing some food shopping, doing some writing, then hop on to PSN and shoot people in Overwatch 2 and MW2. Sunday I promised I would take the dog to see his Grandparents, so there is that! I love my parents dearly, but as soon as they see the dog (StanLee) I will be background noise 🤣 2 Steve and Drew reacted to this

Steve 6,583 Posted November 24, 2022 Was thinking one large thread might be better than a new thread every week. Also starting things off early because of the Thanksgiving holiday (if you're into that sort of thing) On Thursday we're taking it pretty easy and hanging out with friends, watching football and probably a few matches of MTG. Throwing caution to the wind and will probably even have a beer or two. Crazy times. Friday I hope is a bike ride, then we finish up the PoN trilogy podcast and the Friday Conversation. Saturday getting some reading in for Sons of Darkness if I'm not finished by then. Sunday we have our meetup with Gourav Mohanty and @Mihir _FBC to discuss Sons of Darkness. Whew. What do you all have planned? 1 Drew reacted to this Quote Steve IRL ► Personal Links: YouTube (booktube) ● OTBSteve YouTube (MTB and cycling) ● Strava ● Last.fm ● GoodReads ● Vero ◄
Drew 658 Posted November 24, 2022 I think one continuous weekend thread makes sense. I’ve been making a lot of food already this week bc we have family visiting for the holiday. So far I’ve made chocolate cupcakes, pecan pie, apple pandowdy, Chex mix, caramel, potato soup, and bread. Tomorrow is turkey on the grill plus all the sides. Friday is pizza. Saturday is tacos. Just finished An Autumn War (LPQ book 3) this morning and starting the last book in the series, The Price of Spring, right now. I will be finding time to read as much as possible bc being around people all day is really draining for me. But it will be nice to spend time with family. Will definitely watch some football. 4 Frank, Steve, HansLibraryCorner and 1 other reacted to this
Abaddon 429 Posted November 24, 2022 Making the rounds to see family today. It’s almost more tiring than just staying home and cooking yourself sometimes 1 Drew reacted to this Quote Resident Noob

We were so tired of always spending our time off on the holidays traveling all over trying to see people, so this year we decided we aren’t going anywhere and people can come to us if they want😂 so far it’s been much less stressful 1 Steve reacted to this
Thomas 257 Posted November 25, 2022 Did the whole bouncing around yesterday, but it was pretty laid back and there was plenty of good food. I'm on vacation next week. Not going anywhere, but gotta use the time before the end off the year. So I'm gonna make the best of the time off. Try to finish my next book. And get the process started to find a house 3 A_FROG_IN_TIME, Drew and Steve reacted to this

A_FROG_IN_TIME 442 Posted November 25, 2022 Well, after a 52 hour week at work, I have one more hour to do from 6 - 7 am Saturday morning. Then I am off for a week. Plans you say? Saturday, chop a kitchen cupboard in half & move the fridge into the gap now it is big enough. Move a wall cupboard to another wall for same reason. Plumb the fridge in so we have the cold water and ice dispenser working for Christmas. Do some writing then shoot people in Overwatch 2 and Modern Warfare 2 Sunday, Writing, general tidying and maybe start on putting the shelves up I have been avoiding for the past year! The rest of the week, write. 1 Steve reacted to this

Looking into USDA loans where you're not required to have a down payment. So fingers crossed, haha. 4 hours ago, Drew said: Enjoy your time off work! So while it's been hectic lately and they've had me working all sorts of overtime, my bosses told me to take the time so I didn't lose it. And they thought I could use the break, haha.
