Ric 500 Posted March 19 @Frankand @Steve Looking forward to our buddy read of The Dharkan. As Steve has a lot of reading commitments already, I'd be happy for him to pick a time that works for him and I'll fit in with that (if that works for Frank). Once there's a time, others might want to join in. The more the merrier. It's book #2 of a series and 357 pages or just over 11 hours on audiobook. 2 1 Frank, Steve and Paromita Mukherjee reacted to this

Paromita Mukherjee 1,659 Posted March 24 Aww @Steve that sucks, sending lots of positive vibes your way. I'm planning to catch up on Booktube during the weekend and continue reading The Book of Disquiet by Fernando Pessoa. 3 Ric, Steve and Susana Imaginário reacted to this

Amazing Worlds 387 Posted March 25 I’m off in one hour across half of Spain to Madrid to run the half marathon tomorrow morning. However I’m meeting in person one of my online rpg mates for the first time in a craft beer bar, this could spell tragedy for the race though. Sunday post race is lunch with my relatives then a two train way back home. Hopefully plenty of reading time in the trains. 5 Paromita Mukherjee, Frank, Steve and 2 others reacted to this
Susana Imaginário 431 Posted March 25 16 hours ago, Paromita Mukherjee said: The Book of Disquiet by Fernando Pessoa That's one of my favourite books! I keep it on my nightstand and now and then open it to a random page. There's always some interesting thought to reflect throughout the day. I call it The Introvert's Bible Pessoa was an amazing author in all his heteronyms. Enjoy! I'm working this morning, but then I'm taking the rest of the weekend off to rest and just do the things I like, for a change. This will include playing Black&White. I've been wanting to play it again for years and finally got it to work on windows 11 (it wasn't that hard, I just didn't get around to do it before). 3 Paromita Mukherjee, Steve and Ric reacted to this

I'm reading it very slowly, just a few pages a day and it's so moving. I love the description "Introvert's Bible" - some parts just speak to me directly. Usually I like to mark quotes in the ebook, here the entire book is like that! 3 Steve, Frank and Susana Imaginário reacted to this

Catching up on posts but hope you had a great anniversary! This weekend I’ll be getting back into the regular routine. On Friday we talk with Colin’s Corner and @Black&BlueCollarReader. On Saturday I’ll be catching up with things around the house and yard that I’ve been putting off for too long. Sunday we have Berserk and Curse of the Mistwraith discussions What are your plans? 4 Paromita Mukherjee, Black&BlueCollarReader, Frank and 1 other reacted to this Quote Steve IRL ► Personal Links: YouTube (booktube) ● OTBSteve YouTube (MTB and cycling) ● Strava ● Last.fm ● GoodReads ● Vero ◄
Paromita Mukherjee 1,659 Posted April 7 I have a partial Harry Potter reread or Harry Potter rewatch planned depending on my mood. I'm also trying to choose between a few fantasy series as to which one I want to read/reread. Been in bit of a slump. Hoping to tune in to lots of livestreams. Wondering if I should try Berserk. I am curious but my tolerance for graphic on page violence is rather low (ASOIAF is probably the maximum I can take, that too the books not the show) 3 Frank, Steve and Ric reacted to this
Holly Tinsley 562 Posted April 7 I have a four day weekend so today is writing and catching up with Critical Role, tomorrow is badminton, more writing, and then we have an online D&D session in the evening, Sunday we are hopefully finishing up converting our shed into a boxing/work out room and then swimming, then Monday we are hopefully introducing my nieces to D&D for the first time. (also more writing). 3 Paromita Mukherjee, Steve and Ric reacted to this

I am curious but my tolerance for graphic on page violence is rather low (ASOIAF is probably the maximum I can take, that too the books not the show) I've never seen the Harry Potter films although I really enjoyed the books. I hope they hold up on a reread or rewatch. What are your choices for the fantasy series you want to read for the first time? Are you leaning towards any in particular? Nothing to do with the graphic violence, but I tried Berserk and I just didn't get the storytelling experience I was hoping for. I think it's to do with preferring words and picturing the story myself. I seem to be in a minority of one with my opinion of manga, though 2 Paromita Mukherjee and Steve reacted to this
Ric 500 Posted April 7 Playing 6-a-side football (soccer) tomorrow. Probably go on a decent bike ride on Sunday, then catch up with reading while eating an Easter egg. It's a public holiday here on Monday, so I'll chill out around the house before going to a pub quiz in the evening. I might try to watch a movie. Not sure what's available. Haven't watched one in a long time. 2 Paromita Mukherjee and Steve reacted to this

Haha! I see your problem. I'm exactly the same with Greenbone. I have the first book but I don't don't like most mafia movies, and Greenbone has so much hype, which makes me worried that it won't live up to it even if it's excellent. I really liked the first two Stormlight books, and Oathbringer and RoW were enjoyable (IMO), but the more the series goes on, the more it has Cosmere links that I don't care about, and it starts to feel like a computer game with characters battling with super powers then levelling up in the finale by saying the right words. I hope you find something you like. 2 Steve and Paromita Mukherjee reacted to this

I don't play computer games at all so cannot relate to the Cosmere links and the "characters levelling up" at all - even in Words of Radiance it was a bit too much for me which is why I stopped. I decided to read a non-fantasy book - Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte - and hope my brain thinks of something suitable in the meantime. 2 Steve and Ric reacted to this
